Once again, the sharpening amount was 450 %, but this time, I set the threshold at 13. Because of the extremely large amount of sharpening, the picture still looks gritty, but you can see the benefits, especially with skin tones.

Be careful not to forget about the Threshold entry when you use the Unsharp Mask. It retains the last value it was set to. The Threshold setting determines how different pixels have to be in order to be affected by, or worked on by this sharpening filter. Different images require different settings.
     The other slider, Radius, determines how wide the radius of sharpening will be on either side of the edges which are sharpened. It is sort of like a brush size for the filter. A low setting limits sharpening to exact edges. A higher setting spreads the sharpening effect out according to the chosen radius.
