Quick Mask

page two
The rough selection has been drawn. I dragged the lasso tool loosely around the bananas until I overlapped my start point, where I released the mouse button. A line of ‘marching ants,’ as they are usually called, defines the selection. If you ever find these ‘ants’ distracting, you can turn them off by choosing View > Hide Edges. This affects the current selection only; they will reappear on your next selection.

The lasso tool is shown expanded so you can see the hidden tools which are the polygon lasso and the magnetic lasso. Also circled on the right is the Options palette for the tool in use. It is always a good idea to check the settings in Options.
Next, I’ll make the mask
