Duotonespage threeTo make tritones, or quadtones, simply pick the one you want in the Type menu.
Then, go to the appropriate folder after you click the Load button.
The tritone shown below was made from the file named bl 165 red orange 457 brown in the PANTONE (R) Tritones folder. |

Tritones and quadtones
are like duotones with another ink added. They should give the image even
more dimensions. However, the effects are hard to appreciate at low resolution,
in compressed files. The quadtone shown below is from the file titled bl 430 493 557 in the PANTONE (R) Quadtones folder. Necessarily, all these images have been converted back to RGB in order to be saved as JPEGs. If you started with a color image, and used the Lab Color step, that would be four conversions. Yikes! On the next page, I've put up four different duotones, along with the original image for you to compare. Continue on page four |
