6.0 Color Correction

page three
Save a copy of this. You may want to repeat these corrections tests later, and a copy of this step will save you from starting all over.
If the two inch square marquee selection is not still active, click again in the image to reactivate it. Position it precisely over the square in the top left corner. Snap To should cause it to jump into place.
Choose Image > Adjust > Variations. Make sure the dialog box settings in the top right corner are as shown below. Click one time on the box titled More Green. Then click OK and the box will close.
The top left square should now appear greener. Choose the type tool in the toolbox. Choose type options in the options bar. I used a type size of 18 pt. Click once in the lower portion of the greenish square you just adjusted, and type + green.
If you move the pointer a little bit away from the type the cursor will turn into the move tool, and you can reposition the type. Click the big check mark on the options bar to add the type. If it’s not positioned exactly where you want it, make sure the type layer is selected in the Layers palette, and then choose the move tool. Use the arrow keys to nudge it into place.

Click on the Multi-Images layer in the Layers palette to select it. Click once on the image with the marquee tool to reactivate the selection, if need be. Drag the selection outline to be over the image at top center.
Choose Image > Adjust > Variations. The box, above, will open again. Click once on the image copy titled Original in the top left corner of the box. This is important. If you don’t, then the next adjustment would be added to the greenish copy, not the original.
After you have clicked on the Original square, click once on the square titled More Yellow. Then click OK. Back in the image, choose the type tool and add the text, + yellow.
In the Layers palette, select the Multi-Image layer, and repeat the steps to fill up the checkerboard, as shown below. Be sure and reselect the Multi-Images layer each time before going into Variations, and be very sure to click once on the Original square as soon as you go into Variations.
You’ll end up with what you see below. The original image is in the center, and all the variations are around the perimeter.
