In the Layers palette, click the New Layer button. I didn't name my layer, so you'll see it shown as Layer 1 (the default name) in the illustratioins.
     With the new layer selected, do the same thing with the angle gradient tool that you did with the first layer.

When you have a pattern you like, play with the layer's opacity and blend mode to find a miz you like between the new layer and the background layer.

     I'll show you this image, with a filter applied, and then I'll so something a little more complicated. This first, simple one should show you the technique.
